About the service

Information Requirements is a Colorado research firm that works out what information exists, which custodian holds it, and what a request has to contain before it will be answered. We produce a requirements map: the sources, the identifiers, the correct custodian, the statutory clock and the delivery format. This website publishes information about that work and accepts enquiries. Records inventory, Custodian identification, Request requirements, Deadline and appeal mapping, Delivery specification.

No transactions on this website

This website does not sell goods or services and does not accept payment of any kind. Nothing on the site is an offer capable of acceptance by payment, and no contract is formed by reading, contacting or corresponding with us. Any engagement is agreed separately in writing.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding agreement to use this site on behalf of yourself or an organisation you are authorised to represent.

Acceptable use

You agree not to: attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or its hosting; interfere with its operation; scrape it at a rate that harms service to others; submit unlawful, defamatory or malicious content through the contact form; or use the site to infringe anyone's rights.

Information, not legal advice

We are a research company, not a law firm, and nothing on this site is legal advice. Descriptions of records, custodians, response times and appeal routes are general information based on publicly available sources and may change. For advice on your legal position, consult a licensed attorney.

The text, structure and design of this website belong to Information Requirements or its licensors and may not be copied for commercial use without permission. Photographs on this site are the work of their individual authors and are used under the licences shown on the Photo Credits page; those licences, not our terms, govern reuse of the photographs.

We link to government websites, statutes and other third-party resources for reference. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability or practices. Records held by public agencies remain subject to the rules of the agency that holds them.

Our total liability for any claim connected with the site is limited to one hundred US dollars.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Information Requirements and its members and employees from claims arising out of your breach of these terms or your misuse of the site.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes that cannot be resolved informally are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts sitting in Colorado.

We may update these terms. The date at the top of the page shows the version in force, and continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
